With grant funding at its back, Rockies Venture Club is growing its local presence, working with the Denver South Economic Development Partnership to launch a chapter of the statewide angel investor network in the Denver South region.

RVC was awarded $470,000 in total grant funding by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade as part of their 2019 Collaborative Infrastructure Grants.

This move supports the organization’s plans to create new angel communities throughout the state.
“Denver South has a strong entrepreneurial history and community and we have incredible resources throughout the region that support startup, early-stage and growth-stage companies,” Eric Byington, director of innovation at Denver South EDP, said in a statement. “An established and vibrant financial capital community is a cornerstone to all successful startup ecosystems, and we’re excited to have Rockies Venture Club, with their proven track record and incredible network, establish a strong presence in the region.”

With this partnership, RVC and Denver South EDP will work together to support early-stage companies and entrepreneurs looking to establish and grow their businesses in the region. RVC will recruit local and regional investors to serve as members of the Denver South chapter and syndicate deal flow through their statewide network.

RVC has over 215 investor members and invests in 20 to 25 companies annually across Colorado. In 2019, RVC backed local startups Sheets & Giggles, PharmaJet, CirrusMD and Recoup Fitness, among others.

In addition to creating more angel networks, RVC will focus on driving local investment to vertically-oriented sectors, like health, life science, natural food and beverage.

The group’s first area of expansion in Colorado was in clean technology, as RVC partnered with the Colorado Cleantech Industries Association and the Traxion Venture Network to launch a Cleantech Angels group in October.

The next Denver South angel forum will be held on Tuesday, April 7 at 2:30pm at TrueSpace located at 4600 S Ulster St #1450, Denver, CO 80237. For registration and information, visit https://lnkd.in/dv2DMUw.
