This month we are all set to introduce you to some of the projects we are collaborating on to improve and expand transportation options in Denver South. These projects represent our success as a team and as a community.

Working with our partners—including RTD, the Colorado Department of Transportation, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), and our jurisdictional partners—is the specialty of Daniel Hutton, Denver South’s Director of Transportation & Mobility. We’ve featured transportation in our blog posts before, and we’d like to take a moment to reflect on some of our major accomplishments and highlight what it takes to plan and engineer successful projects. Together with regional and state partners and businesses we are dramatically improving our mobility and access throughout Denver South.

Denver South was instrumental in the light rail line expansion into our region – both through TREX and the Southeast Rail Line Extension (SERE). These expansion projects provided a critical transportation backbone for our region, which opened opportunities to implement some of the first/last mile transportation options that exist in Denver South. Among our many other accomplishments, in tandem with our partners, is the work we’re doing to:

Daniel is constantly working to connect partners and area businesses to ensure Denver South is creating thoughtful, intentional investment into our transportation infrastructure projects. He serves as the orchestrator of the transportation programs we work on and leads planning efforts with partners, working to align different viewpoints and to organize and communicate what works, what could be studied, and where we can invest together.

With transportation, as with every aspect of Denver South’s work, we strive to ensure that communication and information flows freely to build the foundation for successful development for our future. Daniel’s work is critical as we work with our partners to make Denver South a great place to live, work, play, and transit.
