DENVER, Colorado – August 2, 2016 – Bye Aerospace and Conductive Composites announced a joint effort to develop and market electromagnetically hardened solar-electric aircraft.

Bye Aerospace has developed a number of UAS platforms such as “Silent Falcon” and “StratoAirNet.” StratoAirNet was recently successfully demonstrated in the Advanced Concepts Event, 2015 (ACE15), at the Air Force Research Laboratories, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. Such High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) platforms are desirable for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) applications due to their ability to stay on-station (loiter) for extended periods of time. Conductive Composites technology has the capability to offer future platform possibilities for operating in GPS-denied environments, and also shield against other threats such as Electromagnetic Pulse weapons.

“Conductive’s materials will allow our aircraft to offer shielding protection, without compromising weight and endurance,” said George Bye, CEO of Bye Aerospace. “This is particularly critical to our core value proposition of persistent ISR, but at the same time offers improved survivability against enemy threats for our customers.”

Tom Sorenson, VP of Partnered Development at Conductive Composites, said, “This is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase our advanced multifunctional materials on a commercially available UAS platform and transition critical technologies that we originally developed for our Air Force customers. We can offer much more beyond shielding, including lightweight antennas, cables, and enclosures for avionics or sensor payloads.”

The companies have future plans to incorporate other advanced material applications into Bye Aerospace platforms and offer expanded configuration options for both manned and unmanned variants.
