Turning Vision into a Global Brand

The highlight of the event was keynote speaker Daymond John, CEO and Founder of FUBU, a much-celebrated global lifestyle brand, and a pioneer in the fashion industry with billions in product sales world-wide.

Daymond shared how he built his apparel brand, FUBU (“For Us, By Us”), from just $40 into a global business generating billions in sales. His journey began with recognizing a gap in the market—clothing that represented culture—and having the drive to fill it. He spoke about hip hop’s role as a disruptor in the fashion industry and how authenticity became a competitive advantage.

Lessons from Daymond John’s Keynote:

A recurring theme throughout his speech was hustle and persistence. From early efforts like knocking on LL Cool J’s door to gain support, to scaling a global brand, Daymond emphasized that success is never a solo effort. Strategic partnerships, collaboration, and surrounding yourself with the right people are essential to building something meaningful.

He also highlighted the importance of representation and diversity in business, emphasizing that different perspectives lead to stronger ideas and better outcomes. His message was clear: lasting success is built through community, collaboration, and a willingness to think differently.
