Global nonprofit Toastmasters International moves to Colorado after 93 years in southern California.
Toastmasters International officially celebrated their new world headquarters in Douglas County with a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday afternoon. The notable educational organization, which empowers individuals to become more effective communicators, will now call Colorado home as membership continues to grow around the world.
After 93 years in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Toastmasters International decided it was time for a change. CEO Daniel Rex, who has already moved to Denver along with 60 colleagues from the previous headquarters, kicked off the ceremony with an explanation of why Toastmasters chose Douglas County, saying, “it offers access to a talented workforce, is a business-friendly environment, and perhaps more importantly the business culture is a great fit for us and our ever-expanding organization.”
Rex then handed the mic over to International President Balraj Arunasalam, who lives in Sri Lanka and joked about the Sunday evening snow. DSEDP President and CEO Mike Fitzgerald welcomed Toastmasters to Douglas County with remarks about the collaborative community and Douglas County Commissioner Lora Thomas discussed some of the attributes that make it a desirable location for growing companies.
In addition to the 60 employees who made the move from California to Colorado, Toastmasters International will be hiring for as many as 325 positions to be based out of their new office, and jobs are already posted for roles in marketing, accounting, customer service, and more.
The bright, open layout in the building previously owned by CH2M is nearly double the size of the former Toastmasters International world headquarters and has plenty of room for the global nonprofit to grow over the next 20 to 30 years. Features of the new office include sweeping views of the front range as well as meeting rooms focused on collaboration and innovation.
