LONE TREE, CO – On May 17, 2016, the City of Lone Tree will embark on a new chapter in its municipal history when a new mayor and two new council members are sworn into office. Mayor-Elect Jackie Millet will leave her seat on City Council to become Lone Tree’s third mayor. Millet has been a member of City Council since 2008 and has served as mayor pro tem since 2012. Millet lives in Heritage Estates with her husband and has a son in college and a daughter in high school.
Wynne Shaw, a 15-year resident, will fill outgoing council member Harold Anderson’s District 1 seat. Shaw has served on the Lone Tree Arts Center Guild and is a Regent for Daughters of the American Revolution. She is also a board member for a women’s political club and a member of Cherry Creek Valley Historical Society. Shaw lives in Carriage Club and has an adult daughter.
Cathie Brunnick, a 9-year resident, will fill Kim Monson’s District 2 seat. Brunnick most recently served as president of the Lone Tree Arts Center Guild and has been active in fundraising for the Arts Center since the Guild was formed. Brunnick lives in Heritage Hills with her husband and four children.
A fifth council seat was filled by Jay Carpenter when Millet was sworn is as mayor.
Residents are welcome to attend the final City Council meeting for outgoing members and the swearing in ceremony of new members on Tuesday, May 17 at 7:00 pm. Following the meeting, a public reception with refreshments will be held. The meeting and reception will take place at the Lone Tree Civic Center, 8527 Lone Tree Parkway. Guests are encouraged to park at Cook Creek Pool, 8711 Lone Tree Parkway, adjacent to, and a short walk from, the Civic Center, if the Civic Center parking lot is full.
