As part of the gratitude the holiday season brings, people are taking the time to give back during Colorado Gives Day – where people share generously with those in their community.

We asked Denver South employees where they like to give during this season, and we thought we would share – just a few of the many, amazing charities and causes in the Denver South corridor.

  • arc Thrift Store Donation Station in Lone Tree
    • Arc Thrift Stores are across Colorado and work in multiple facets to improve the lives of their communities. Through selling second-hand clothes and other items, they inspire a greener fashion future. They are also one of the largest employers of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. When buying through their stores, proceeds will go to advocacy and community programs for individuals with disabilities.
    • “I love shopping at arc Thrift, I get to shop sustainably and support an amazing cause,” said Owyn, Marketing Specialist at Denver South.
  • Bags of Fun (Gabby Krause Foundation)
    • Knowing it can be scary to be a child in the hospital, the Gabby Krause Foundation puts together backpacks of fun for kids battling long-term or life-threatening conditions so they can have joy and relief.
  • Freedom Service Dogs in Centennial:
    • The Freedom Service Dogs provide service dogs, at no cost to the client, to people living with post-traumatic stress disorder, autism, and mobility challenges resulting from cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injuries, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.
    • “FSD holds a special place for me as my son has a dog provided by them!” shared Erin, Director of Marketing & Communications at Denver South.
  • Home Builders Foundation
    • The Home Builders Foundation creates and modifies homes of people and families in need across the Denver Metro region. By donating, you can support people who are living with physical disabilities in our community.
  • Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain
    • Headquartered in Greenwood Village and a valued partner to Denver South, JA Rocky Mountain focuses on financial and economic literacy, as well as work readiness programming for youth and young adults.
    • “I’ve been a classroom volunteer for Junior Achievement and enjoy the opportunity to chat about the basic functions of an economy and government, and how young citizens can contribute to their city, region and community through their individual choices.  Their mission also aligns well with Denver South as they are informing our future workforce the value of community, collaboration, and commerce,” said Becky, Denver South’s Director of Partner Engagement

  • Make-A-Wish Colorado
    • With over 40 years of wishes granted, Make-A-Wish Colorado works to provide hope and joy for children who are fighting critical illnesses through amazing experiences.
  • Project C.U.R.E. International Headquarters
    • Starting in a Colorado garage, Project C.U.R.E. now donates tons of medical equipment and supplies to the people and hospitals that need them the most around the world. They also send volunteer medical professionals to provide treatment and training to those areas.
  • Project Helping
    • To help inspire people to help their community, Project Helping makes it simple to join local events through their partner organizations to make a difference not only for those who are receiving help, but for those who are giving it.
  • Samaritan’s Purse
    • Since 1970, Samaritan’s Child has traveled around the world to help those less fortunate through food, medicine, and other care through donations. They also have a project called Operation Christmas Child where they fill shoeboxes with gifts for children in over 170 countries and territories.
  • Special Olympics Colorado
    • A valued member of our community, headquartered in Centennial, works with public and private partners to provide competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
    • “I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with SOCO athletes and staff as my brother manages the Unified Program in the Denver area – joining people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same athletic team with the goal of friendship and understanding,” Becky said.
  • Tall Tales Ranch in Lone Tree:
    • Their team creates an inclusive community for adults living with an intellectual disability and provides independence, friendship, and growth opportunities for this unique group of people.
