Each year, Denver South connects with the local workforce and employers to better understand how people get to work, if they are heading into the office or working remotely, and what matters most in their commute. In 2024, more than 1,700 voices helped shape the picture of how we move through the region.

THANK YOU to all of those who shared your thoughts and your commute with us!

Here’s what we learned:

🚗 Commute Length
Employees in the Denver South region reported an average one-way commute of 15 miles, with 60% of respondents living in either Douglas or Arapahoe counties.

🏆 Top Valued Benefits

  1. Flexible work hours – 91% of respondents ranked this #1! The 2025 survey will ask more in-depth questions about this benefit!
  2. Remote work options

🏢 The Office is Back—Almost Full-Time
Remote work has declined, with workers now averaging about 1.5 remote days per week, down from just over 3 in 2021.

  • 35% of respondents are now fully in-office.
  • 49% are in the office 3 or more days per week.

🚍 Commuting Without the Freeway
Looking to avoid traffic? You’re not alone. 33% of respondents said their employer fully or partially subsidizes an RTD EcoPass, making transit a more accessible and affordable option. With recent improvements in on-time departures and 15-minute service within the E light rail lines, it’s a great time to give it a try!
