Denver South and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) have recently partnered on a unique employer engagement opportunity intended to promote the use of sustainable commuting options across Colorado.
The target? The Denver metro area’s ever-growing ranks of commuters.
This pilot program is part of Denver South’s ongoing effort to address not only congestion and traffic along the I-25 corridor, but also to improve the quality of life for everyone in the Denver metro area.
This is all part of a federal grant intended to help companies:
- Reduce their carbon footprints, by cutting down on the number of people driving alone to and from work on a daily basis.
- Defer or avoid costly parking construction projects, by reducing the number of cars that have to be parked on-site every day.
- Boost employee retention and engagement.
We’re thrilled to be able to do our part in all this, but we need your help.
We need large employers from the region with 250 or more employees to agree to participate. The project will involve:
- An Employee Commute Survey that analyzes where employees are coming from, how far they travel, and how often they have to come into the office.
- Tailor-made action plan based on survey results with a series of real goals that employers can use to reduce their overall carbon footprint.
- And analysis to help them understand the ROI of any changes.

Note: All data used in this project will remain anonymous and no personally identifiable information will be collected.
So, what do the participating companies get out of the deal?
Essentially, in addition to the above action plan they’ll get access to everything that Denver South is doing to promote commuting options in the region, including:
- Free outreach and education through our turn-key sustainable commute program
- Inclusion in our blog and newsletter
