Last week, we were proud to host the German delegation of the Transatlantic Cluster Initiative focused on e-mobility. Along with our co-hosts the German American Chamber of Commerce, Aurora Economic Development Council, and Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation, we had an action-packed week of events and ideas exchange.
E-Mobility is the overarching concept applying to both vehicular transportation and infrastructure networks, with the ultimate aim to produce more environmentally-friendly and efficient vehicles through drive electrification.
With the German government providing over €1.5 billion for research and development in this field since 2009 and an ever-more-relevant dialogue surrounding transatlantic cooperation of policy, regulatory, technical and infrastructure measures, this is shaping a strong demand for electrification of transportation both in the U.S. and Germany.
The delegation toured the National Renewable Energy Lab, participated in a roundtable discussion on the race to e-mobility, was thrilled to experience the Sam Car simulation during a tour of Arrow Electronics. All involved were able to dedicate time thinking and discussing some of the more significant challenges of how we solve some of the big questions around transportation and mobility such as, infrastructure both roads, and public transportation, and how do we solve for additional stress on the electric grid. There was much insight gained, and friendships made.
