Denver South Suburban Mobility Summit: Maximizing Built Environment and Sustainable Transportation

August 3rd, 2023 | 8am – 2:30pm

Join us at the Kiewit Regional Headquarters in Lone Tree for the inaugural Suburban Mobility Summit & Expo. This event is presented in partnership with Kiewit, DRCOG, and RTD. The Summit aims to bring together jurisdictions and stakeholders to explore opportunities to invest in sustainable transportation alternatives. Additionally, we will explore commuter behavior change and sustainability strategies.

“In Metro Denver – and most metropolitan areas in the US – 70-75% of the population actually lives in the suburbs. We talk a lot about new “urbanism.” Don’t get me wrong, it’s an important discussion. But what does new “suburbanism” look like? How can we plan for the changing dynamics of working, commuting, and new ways of getting around, especially in the wake of COVID-19?” says Daniel Hutton, our Director of Transportation & Mobility.

The Summit offers a unique platform to discuss these trends. We will also explore critical topics of suburban growth, transportation demand strategies, and how to create forward-thinking solutions as a suburban region.

Featured Speakers

The Summit features some of the foremost thought leaders in this space. Brent Toderian, renowned former Chief Planner for Vancouver, BC, will highlight the economic benefits of sustainable urban design and transportation planning. Additionally Horace Dediu, a leading tech analyst who coined the term “micromobility,” will discuss the advantages of micromobility and its impact on economic growth.

“We anticipate an explosion in the growth and popularity in this space. The Summit is a first step toward developing regional collaboration that promotes growth, sustainability, and reflects the live/work/play community we’re working to build together.” – Daniel Hutton (Denver South)
