The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a $2 trillion assistance package, was enacted in March 2020 to provide economic relief to businesses and workers affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. After receiving $114.5 million through the CARES Act, the Arapahoe County Commissioners approved the formation of the Arapahoe County CARES program and distribution of $51.5 million to its 13 municipalities to support economic recovery for residents and businesses. The program supports economic recovery, the health and well-being of citizens and employees, and access to testing.
Armed with the financial resources to support small and medium-sized businesses, Arapahoe County launched grant programs to ease the current economic burden resulting from COVID-19. The County launched a $6 million grant program focused on reducing business operational expenses and incurred expenditures to comply with public health orders. In partnership with Arapahoe County, the City of Centennial and the City Greenwood Village have formed similar programs.
The Business Interruption Grant can be used to support general business operations including lease or mortgage payments, and utility, payroll, or inventory expenses.
Business Infrastructure and PPE Grants will be provided to eligible business expenses incurred to facilitate compliance with public health orders. Expenditures may include, but are not limited to, building or property modifications, PPE, safety training, touchless payment systems, online ordering platforms.
