Becky Nelson is an economic dynamo. As Director of Economic Development, she is constantly finding new and inventive ways to connect with Denver South’s business community to ensure they are aware of the vital resources available to fuel their opportunities for growth and expansion in the region.
Becky works closely with the region’s primary employers, community partners, and public jurisdictions to promote the many resources available to help these businesses expand and create jobs. This close collaboration is perhaps one of the most powerful aspects of Denver South’s success; the Economic Development team’s efforts have led to new employers, new jobs, and a thriving, diverse economy.
As Director of Economic Development, Becky concentrates on connecting with existing businesses throughout Denver South to encourage their success, help them grow, and ensure that she and the team are poised to support their long-term success. No matter the size, the existing companies she works closely with are economic drivers in the region; they bring in new wealth and create employment opportunities. What’s more, since Denver South is not a membership organization, these resources are provided at no cost to our region’s employers. “Denver South companies truly do some amazing things,” she notes.
Becky is especially motivated by the deliberate collaboration she sees daily. “Our area cities, counties, developers, community members, and businesses have shown a talent for working together to build and grow the business environment. That is a hallmark of our Denver South economy,” says Becky. “Being able to work with so many exciting businesses and programs – and to see the success that results – is incredible, and one of my favorite things about my role here.”
Throughout the coming weeks we will highlight some of the work we are doing to help fuel this collaboration. Along with our regional partners, Denver South will continue to invest resources into reaching out to businesses, dedicating more time to outreach efforts throughout 2022 and 2023 to provide access to resources and technical assistance for the local business community at no cost to the business. These resources are available to Denver South businesses to help further their growth and sustained success.
